• TSETAN NORBU (President 1995-98; 1998-2001) : Graduated with Bachelor of Commerce from Tribuvan University Kathmandu, Nepal. Got Diploma in Social Leadership from St. Xavier University, Philippines. Also did training in Export and Marketing from Sian Productivity Organization in Japan. From 1980 to 1989, he served the Tibetan Research Office of Darjeeling. He edited the independent magazine ‘Sambhota’ published from Kathmandu. He served as the President of TYC chapter in Kathmandu and was member of Tibetan Freedom Movement and Tibetan Local Assembly in Nepal. During his tenure in the Centrex, he toured many countries as spokesman of TYC.

 

  • KARMA YESHI NAZHI (Vice President/ Editor-Tibetan Rangzen 1995-98; 1998-2001) : Born in 1965, Gangtok. Did his graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh and also obtained Bachelor of Education degree and diploma in language from the same university. He was an executive member of Chandigarh branch of TYC from 1987-88 and President of the Puruwala branch from 1992-95. He also served several years as President of the Tibetan Freedom Movement in Chandigarh and Puruwala. In 1995, he was elected as the President of Local Assembly of Sakya Tibetan Settlement in Puruwala, Himachal Pradesh. At present, he is a member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (ATPD) and also heads the Voce of Tibet Radio Service based in Dharamsala.

 

  • YANGCHEN DOLKAR (Information Secretary 1992-95; General Secretary 1995-1998) : Born at Dharamsala, she did basic schooling at the CST Bylakuppe and later on did B. Com. from Christ College in Bangalore and diploma in auditing at Chandigarh. While in college she served as Rupon, Cultural Secretary and Vice President of the RTYC, Bangalore and also with RTYC Dharamsala. At Centrex, she represented TYC at various International women’s fora. Joined CTA and served in the Audit Commission for 2 years before being elected to the Centrex in 1992.

 

  • PEMA LHUNDUP (Jt Secretary 1995-98; General Secretary 1998-2000; Ed Eng Rangzen 1995-2000) : Completed his schooling from Central School for Tibetans, Darjeeling in 1979. Joined Special Frontier Force compulsory training programmed and served there for two years. He played key role in the formation of regional chapter of TYC Nainital and became the founding General Secretary. He also held the post of assistant editor of the RTYC’s annual journal “Exiled Spark”. Professionally, he was a teacher and held the post of headmaster of the Central Tibetan Day School, Nainital from 1984-1995. Sadly, he died in 2000.

 

  • CHOEKYONG WANGCHUK (Sec Int’l Rlt 1995-98:Jt. Secy 1998-2000:Gen Sec /Ed Eng Rangzen 2000-01) : Born in Kalimpong, he passed his senior Secondary School from SFF School in Herbertpur in 1990. He then joined for B.A in GCM, Chandigarh, Punjab University and obtained his graduation in 1993. He served as the President to Overseas Student Association (O.S.A) of Government College for men’s in 1992 and also as the President of RTYC. Presently, he is working as the coordinator of India-Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) of CTA in Delhi.

 

  • JAMYANG DORJEE (Organisational Secretary 1995-1998) : Born in Lhasa. Did his schooling from CST Mussoorie and M.D.A.V, School, New Delhi. Worked as headmaster of the Tibetan School in Ravangla (1974-1976). He played a pivotal role in the formative stage of the Tibetan Freedom Movement and was the first President of RTYC Ravangla. Joined Sikkim Government service in 1977 at Gangtok and became an Assistant Director of Tourism Department in 1984 and a member of State Civil Service as Deputy Secretary of Culture in 1989. Held the post of General Secretary of RTYC, Gangtok. Joined CTA in 1994 as Deputy Secretary of the Deptt of Religion and Culture and served as Director of TIPA and Coordinator of ITCO. Resigned and established a new NGO called Youth Empowerment Initiative where he is the founding director.

 

  • TENZIN P. ATISHA (Finance Secretary 1995-1998) : He was born in Tsakor, Tibet. Did his schooling from CST, Dalhousie. Got his Bachelor and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Political Science from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He served the President and executive member of RTYC Chandigarh and Dharamsala respectively. He was the Joint Secretary of DIIR before designating the Representative of the Offices of Tibet in Taiwan and now in Australia.

 

  • NGODUP GYALTSEN (Public Relations Officer 1995-1997) : He has served in various capacities at Lugsum Samdupling Tibetan settlement in Bylakuppe. He was an active member of TYC and held the post of President and General Secretary of RTYC, Bylakuppe. He also served for several years as an executive member of the Joint Action Committee of the Tibetan Settlement in South India. Later served as the Welfare Officer of the Tibetan Settlement in Kullu District and Settlement Officer of Kollegal before being transferred to the head office of Department of Home.

 

  • CHOEPHEL THUPTEN (Cultural Secretary 1995-1997) : Did his schooling form CST Bylakuppe. Graduated from the Christ College, Bangalore University and Diploma in Computer from ISCT and Journalism from Media Centre, Bangalore. He was elected twice to the post of President of RTYC Bangalore and was the Vice President of the South Zone Joint Action Committee. In 1992, he joined the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and was the Information Secretary of RTYC, Dharamsala. Presently, he works at the Representative Office of South Zone Tibetan Settlement in Bangalore.

 

  • TSERING TASHI (Public Relations Officer 1997-1998) : Did his schooling at Mussoorie Public School from 1969-1979. Obtained B.A degree and post-graduate diploma course in Journalism and Mass Communication from Changidarh. Joined CTA as a Research Assistant at the then Information Office. He served at Bureau of H.H. the Dalai Lama as the Press Officer and later as its Secretary. Selected for the Fulbright Scholarship and received Master degree in Journalism from University of Arizona. He served in the Offices of Tibet in US, London, Switzerland and also in ICT, Washington, D.C. Edited Tibetan Bulletin of the DIIR. He also served at the Private office of H.H. the Dalai Lama.
  • Ven. TENZIN C. THINLAY (Finance Secretary 1997-1998: 1998-2001) : Did his schooling at TCV till the middle school and then joined the Namgyal Monastery. Kusho Thinley la, as mostly called by his friends, was a board member of Namgyal Monastery and had toured extensively to the west to organize exhibitions. He has served as the Director of Sangye Choeling Monastery at Shimla from 1991-1997 and concurrently also served as the Director of Old-aged Home at Sanjouli at Shimla.

 

  • TSEWANG PALJOR alias Apo Derge (Information Officer 1981-83; 1983-86; 1995-1998) : He did his schooling at Panchamari and his Teacher’s training and B.A. from Punjab University, Chandigarh. During his school days at Panchamari, he represented Panchamari at the first Conference of the Tibetan Youth Congress. He held the posts of executive and advisor of the RTYCs at Dalhousie, Paonta Sahib, Orissa and Kalimpong. He taught at CST Dalhousie, Paonta Sahib, Orissa, Bhandhara and now at Kalimpong.
