TYC 49th Working Committee Meeting Kicks of in Dekyiling

Dehradun Aug 6: Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) inaugurated the 49th Working Committee Meeting in Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement, Dehradun on the 6th of August 2018 and is to be held till 10th August 2018. The meeting is attended by around 35 Regional Tibetan Youth Congress chapters from India and Nepal with 150 delegates. Since its establishment in 1970, TYC has been holding Working Committee Meeting every year. 

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of chief guest, Kasur Gyari Dolma, Ex Kalon, Parliamentarian and former TYC Executive. Other dignitaries from the Tibetan community, representatives of Tibetan NGOs and former TYC CENTREX executive members and former RTYC Executive member of RTYC Dekyiling also attended the same.

The Chief Guest commenced the ceremony by lighting the butter lamp followed by the Tibetan National Anthem and the Indian National Anthem respectivelyminutes silence was observedfor the Tibetan martyrs who have sacrificed their precious lives for Tibet.

TYC President Tenzing Jigme in his address spoke about the organisations aims and goals for the future and urged all members to make sacrifices and take responsibility for themovement. He also spoke on the significance of TYC as it being the organisation that keeps the flames of freedom and independence alive and also introduced some of the campaigns of TYC this year. 

Chief Guest Kasur Gyari Dolma addressed on the need for unity in Tibetan society despite having difference in opinion. She also spoke about her days as an executive member of TYC and how TYC is one of the major organisations that works for Tibet as a whole without any regional bias and the only organisation that threatens Communist Party of China. In her speech, she said that, “the Strasbourg Proposal suggested by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in 1988 at the European Parliament has also caused debates regarding the aims and objectives of TYC where issues of reform in TYC’s aims and objectives were brought up but post nullification of the Strasbourg Proposal in 1991, it was made clear that there would be no reform in the aims and objectives of TYC.”

The opening ceremony was concluded with a word of thanks by Vice-President Tamding Hrichoe la. The meeting will end on Aug 10, where resolutions on how to strengthen our struggle, improve the organisation and build unity in the community will be adopted for TYC and its chapters. 

Tibetan Youth Congress is the largest Tibetan NGO in exile with around 80 chapters worldwide working towards the freedom and independence of Tibet.

TYC Calls for Boycott of Made in China

Bangalore Sept 3: Around 100 members of Tibetan Youth Congress participated in a protest rally calling for a Boycott of Made in China and Tibet’s Independence India’s Security.

The protest march started from Banerapa Park and ended at Freedom Park and its aim is to highlight the issue of Tibet and urge for support for the freedom of the Tibetan people.

Since 2009, 160 Tibetans have set themselves on fire both inside and outside Tibet sacrificing their lives for their nation and protesting the illegal occupation of Tibet. China continues to occupy and oppress the Tibetan people.

Tibet must be on the table while issues related to the border between India and China are discussed said Tibetan Youth Congress President Tenzing Jigme. “The only way the border issue will be solved is when Tibet is free”, added Jigme.

We also have to apply various different tactics and strategies to put pressure on the Chinese government to resolve the issue therefore we are calling for a boycott of Made in China. This campaign not only aims to raise awareness but also directly send a message to the Chinese government that the resistance for Tibet will continue.

Tibetan Youth Congress is the largest Tibetan organization in exile working for the freedom and independence of Tibet.

Tibetan Youth Congress Working Committee Meeting ended yesterday in Bangalore where the organization adopted resolutions to strengthen the movement moving forward.

A resolution to proclaim a day as Tibetan National Language day aiming to preserve Tibetan language was adopted. TYC also passed a resolution to encourage Boycott Made in China and another resolution to form a scholarship fund for college students who want to attend college but cant afford the fees having not received any scholarships.

INAUGURATION OF THE 48TH WORKING COMMITTEE MEETING OF TIBETAN YOUTH
CONGRESS

Around 100 participants from 35 Tibetan Youth Congress Regional Chapters from all over
India, Nepal and Bhutan have gathered in Bangalore, India for the 48 th Working Committee
Meeting of Tibetan Youth Congress which is being held from 29 th August to 2 nd September.
The opening ceremony was held this morning at Tibetan Youth Hostel in Bangalore. The
Chief Guest for the function was Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor of National Law
School of India, Bangalore University and the special guests were Tejasvi Surya, Advocate
and General Secretary, BJP Youth Wing Karnataka and Veteran Lieutenant Gen. PG Kamath.
Other dignitaries from the Tibetan community, representatives of Tibetan NGOs and former
executive members of RTYC Bangalore also attended the same.
The Chief Guest commenced the ceremony by lighting the butter lamp. The attenders sang
the Tibetan National Anthem followed by the Indian National Anthem. About a minute
mourning was done for the Tibetan martyrs who have sacrificed their precious lives for
Tibet.
The TYC Centrex awarded certificates and cash prize to Tamding Dorjee and Tenzing Kunga
from Herbertpur School, Miao, Nying Dha from Dhondupling school, Clement Town and
Pema Norbu from TCV Selukui School for obtaining first position in Tibetan.
The TYC Centrex also distributed certificates to former RTYC Bangalore Executive Members.
The Chief Guest did the honour of launching the website www.tibetburning.com as well as
DVD on self-immolation titled Tibet Burning.

for the future and urged all members to make sacrifices and take responsibility for the
movement.
Special Guest, Tejasvi Surya spoke of the importance of the movement of the Tibetan
people. He said the struggle of the Tibetan people and Hindus are similar and Tibetans
should fight for their basic human right i.e. freedom. He also said that the main enemy in
the freedom struggle is not the enemy country but complacency. He stressed that Tibetans
should never be complacent and should carry on with their freedom struggle determinedly.
Gen PG Kamath spoke about the minerals and richness of Tibet and why China has occupied
Tibet. He said that many rivers in South Asia originate from Tibet and if anything happens to
these rivers then about 1.4 billion people get affected because they depend on Tibet’s water
for survival. He also said that Tibet issue is also India’s issue because after China occupied
Tibet, India has been sharing its borders with China and every year India spends huge
amount of money for its defence. He emphasized that there are many supporters for Tibet
all over the world and that Tibetans should not depend upon them. Ultimately it is in the
hands of Tibetans to win their freedom movement and hence Tibetans should not give up
and work for it.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest spoke about His Holiness the 14 th Dalai Lama’s
visit to National Law School of India last year. He said his holiness spoke about the
importance of preservation of the rich Tibetan Buddhist culture during his visit. He also said
that we should have passion for what we do and compassion for who we do. He ended his
speech by quoting His Holiness the 14 th Dalai Lama, “Choose the power of love over the love
of power.”
The opening ceremony concluded around 12 p.m. with the Vote of Thanks given by TYC
Vice-President, Tamding Hrichoe.

 

TYC to hold Protest Rally in Delhi

Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest Tibetan NGO in exile, will organize a protest rally in Delhi to highlight the issue that Tibet’s independence is the safest guarantee for India’s security and peace along the Himalayas. We urge the Indian government to take a proactive approach in resolving the issue of Tibet and at the same time we believe that Tibetans must be a part of discussions concerning its own borders.

The protest rally will be held on Friday August 11, 2017 10:00am from Ram Leila Maidan to Jan tar Mantar in Delhi. Prominent Indian leaders and Tibet supporters will be taking part in the protests
