DHARAMSHALA, July 29: The largest pro independence group of the Tibetan Diaspora, which concluded its 46th Working Committee Meeting in the Indian capital today, devoted the fourth day to engage in lobbying efforts to draw support to the situation inside Tibet, particularly to the death of Tibetan philanthropist teacher Tulku Tenzin Delek in Chinese Prison in Tibet.

Members divided into several groups visited prominent Indian politicians as well as consulates in New Delhi on Monday, to garner support and to build a global alliance condemning Tulku’s death.

The TYC members visited Indian politicians such as Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, senior BJP legislator Shanta Kumar, MP Arun Kumar and MP Tarun Vijay and representatives of Consulate of Japan, German Embassy and international establishments such as European Union’s Dr. Anne Vaugier Chatterjee, United States Global Unit Chief Mr. Anthony Eterno and Miss Michelle Janson.

The members broached the recent ‘death in detention’ of the Buddhist leader from Lithang under mysterious circumstances in a Chinese prison and the aftermath of the incident that resulted in beatings of several youth who protested the death and demanded his body.

The TYC members also sought support to their demands for the release of Tulku’s sister and niece who were arrested following his hushed cremation under police surveillance.

“The esteemed representatives have been very cordial and encouraging while listening to our pleas and that has given us impetus to further undertake such initiatives. The interest shown by them is genuine and the duration of the meetings especially were long hence we could explain the matters in detail. The meetings are a success and we are happy that our efforts have at least been heard to the highest of offices” said a TYC member.

The largest pro independence group of the Tibetan Diaspora concluded its 46th Working Committee Meeting in Samyeling Tibetan Refugee Settlement in Delhi today with 130 executive members from 35 regional chapters around the world gathered at the Chushigangdruk Complex in Majnu Ka Tilla in Delhi.

The forty sixth Working Committee Meeting of the Tibetan youth congress convened in Samyeling Tibetan Refugee settlement in North Delhi on 24th July 2015. The six day meeting is the annual meeting of the leaders of the various regional chapters of the largest Tibetan non governmental organization. In this meeting 130 executives representing 35 regional chapters have convened in Delhi.
The meeting commenced with an opening ceremony where the President of TYC, Mr Tenzin  Jigme welcomed the delegates and the guests. He said “We are gathering here with such warmth in our heart and feeling deeply blessed just after the recent Long Life prayer “Tenshug” offering in Dharamshala to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.”
Expressing concerns about some of the regional chapters that are still to reconcile with majority of the TYC body the President said “TYC welcomes and celebrates difference of opinion and we debate thoroughly within the organization on outstanding issues. But we must all respect the uncompromising goal of Independence for Tibet. Those who do not have it, they are free to join other organizations.
Talking about the controversial elections of the New York New Jersey regional chapter Mr Jigme said: “Every TYC member must respect the TYC Charter. One cannot selectively follow the rules. The rules make sense when they are followed in whole.”
Mr Tempa Tsering , the representative of the his Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi presided over the function as the Chief Guest. The former minister of Central Tibetan Administration had also served the Tibetan Youth Congress twice as its Central executive said he was delighted to be there among the TYC members.
Commending on the on-going social-political work of the Tibetan Youth Congress he said His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people have always loved and supported TYC’s activities. But in the recent times due to few individual officials of TYC directing their criticism at CTA instead for the failure of the negotiation with China.” The support for TYC has waned.
Supporting TYC’s stand for Independence he said “Ours is a democracy, and in a democratic society difference in ideology and opinions are not only natural but everyone has the right to hold one’s own stance. As a democratic society we must respect difference of opinion”.

Dharamshala: In honor of the 80^th Birthday of His Holiness the 14^th Dalai Lama, Tibetan Youth Congress announces a scholarship award for Tibetan students living in India, Nepal and Bhutan. The scholarship award titled “Dalai Lama Kadrin Jayden Award” will be given to the student with the highest score in Tibetan language on the Class XII board exams every year. A sum of Rs. 20,000 IC will be awarded to that student.

TYC hopes that this scholarship award will encourage and create greater interest amongst the youth to learn, speak and write in Tibetan. TYC has named this scholarship “Dalai Lama Kadrin Jayden Award” in honor and to respect the legacy and achievements of His Holiness the 14^th Dalai Lama as well as celebrate his 80^th Birthday. HH the Dalai Lama will turn 80 this July 6 and this award will be presented to the student on that day. TYC is also offering Tenshug, a long life ceremonial offering to His Holiness on July 31 in Dharamshala.

Preservation of culture, religion and language is one of the main aims of the organization, says TYC President Tenzing Jigme. Since TYC was founded in 1970, the organization has been continuously working to educate the youth about the importance of speaking, reading and writing in Tibetan. “Now more than ever we need to preserve our identity – and our language is an integral part of that identity”, says Jigme.

Tibetan Youth Congress is the largest Tibetan NGO in exile with over 88 chapters and 35,000 members worldwide working for the freedom and independence of the Tibetan people.

Tibetan Youth Congress would like to offer our condolences to all those affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal and parts of Tibet and India. The news and images coming out of these affected areas are heartbreaking and we are all very saddened by the devastation. Tibetan Youth Congress stands in solidarity and we send our thoughts and prayers to all those who have lost their loved ones and property as a result of this tragic calamity.

TYC urges all our Regional Chapters to hold prayers and vigils in their areas and show solidarity to our fellow brothers and sisters. TYC also requests all chapters to start an “Earthquake Relief” donation drive. It is very important to help in the healing and rebuilding process. Donations collected should be sent to TYC Centrex headquarters. We will then coordinate the donations received to Nepal and also the other affected regions in Tibet and India.

TYC Centrex will be sending two of our executive board members to assess the situation in Nepal. We are also highly concerned about the situation of Tibetans living in the country. Then we will work together with our Regional Chapters in Nepal as well as the local government and NGO’s to assist with relief and rehabilitation efforts. TYC is also closely monitoring the situation in earthquake-affected parts of Tibet and India.

Our spiritual leader HH the 14th Dalai Lama always reminds us to practice, Compassion in Action. Keeping this message in our hearts and minds we believe that at this time of need, it is important for us to take action and help those in need and support the earthquake relief efforts.
