Jampaling RTYC-Pokhara, Nepal, May 3 - The Regional Chapter of TYC Jampaling Tibetan Camp Dulegaunda, a settlement comprising of Lodrik youth conducted a cycle rally which saw 35 voluntary participants (draped in the National Flag) covering a distance of 40 kilometers.

Led by Tsering Sangpo, ex- President/Advisor, Regional TYC President Chime Dorjee and Genreral Secretary Tamding Hrichoe, the group rode through the streets of Pokhara and along the Pokhara-Kathmadu highway before being received by Britta Madsen, Regional Office Head of the United Nations Human Rights Council at Lakeside.

The group expressed the grievances of the Tibetan Community in Nepal and erstwhile over the recent proceedings in Tibet. A petition was submitted to Ms. Madsen who in return showed full sympathy and promised to send it to their Head Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Petition included the following demands.

1. Immediate release of all innocent Tibetans who are in prison without trial.
2. Proper medical attention to those injured in the recent crackdown in Tibet.
3. To stop the repression and brutality towards ethnic Tibetans.
4. To provide access to international media in Tibet.
5. No Olympic in Beijing until Tibet is free.

Ms. Madsen further stated her concern over the high handedness adopted by the Nepal Government to subdue peaceful protests. She promised to render all possible assistance so that demonstrators did not face further police brutality and violation of human rights. A minute long silence was observed followed by the Tibetan National Anthem within the UNHRC compound.
