Exiled Tibetans march across India for freedom.
(8.May 2008)
LUCKNOW, India — For the past half-century refugee Mingmar Bhuti, who fled Tibet as a teenager after China put down an uprising against its rule, has mourned the separation from her homeland and her family.
Bhuti, one of 137 Tibetans marching across India to garner sympathy for their plea for independence for their troubled homeland, says those wounds can only be mended only be mended once Tibet is free and her Indian-born children can visit.
"I yearned to meet my mother. I wanted to go back to Tibet. I could not meet her -- she died two years ago. Today I just have memories," said Bhuti, 63, who escaped over the Himalayas to India in 1959, leaving her widowed mother behind.

Immediate Press Release: (7 May 2008) Tibetan Youth Congress Strongly Condemns The Unfair and Unlawful Trial of 30 Tibetans by China. Dharamshala: On 29 April, 2008 the Intermediate People's Court in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), handed down prison sentences to 30 Tibetans who had taken part in peaceful protests since 10 March, 2008. The sentences range from three years to life in prison.International law requires an arrested suspect to be charged with a recognised offence and given a fair trial, and anybody arrested for expressing their opinions and participating in peaceful demonstrations should be considered arbitrarily detained. A fair trial includes the right to legal representation, the right to be presumed innocent, the right to have adequate time to prepare a defence and the right to be heard in public. The speedy one-day trial proceedings in Lhasa were held in secret and did not conform with even the most basic standards of international justice.

TYC holds "Tibetan Independence Torch relay" in New Delhi, around 30 activists detained. New Delhi, April 15 - Around 30 advocates of the Free Tibet cause led by TYC were picked up from Raj Path today, where they had gathered to hold "Tibetan Independence Torch relay" to call for the boycott of Beijing 2008 Olympics and to demonstrate against the recent crackdown of Tibetans inside Tibet by Chinese authorities.
The protectors demanded that China deliver on the pledge made to the International Olympic Committee to respect human rights. Slogans such as 'We Want Justice' and 'Stop Killing in Tibet' reverberated through the high security zone which is to be sealed off for the Olympic torch relay later this week.

CYCLE RELAY BY RTYC POKHARA. Jampaling RTYC-Pokhara, Nepal, May 3 - The Regional Chapter of TYC Jampaling Tibetan Camp Dulegaunda, a settlement comprising of Lodrik youth conducted a cycle rally which saw 35 voluntary participants (draped in the National Flag) covering a distance of 40 kilometers.Led by Tsering Sangpo, ex- President/Advisor, Regional TYC President Chime Dorjee and Genreral Secretary Tamding Hrichoe, the group rode through the streets of Pokhara and along the Pokhara-Kathmadu highway before being received by Britta Madsen, Regional Office Head of the United Nations Human Rights Council at Lakeside.

New York, April 27 - Hundreds of Tibetans and supporters gathered in New York for the next leg of the Tibetan Independence Torch relay today wearing 'Rangzen track suits' and carrying Tibetan National flags and banners. The torch lighting ceremony took place in Union Square with Venerable Palden Gyatso, Jamyang Norbu and 'goddesses'.

Day 15: All 33 TYC Members determined to launch further campaigns within Tihar Jail. (23 April 2008) New Delhi Police booked all the 33 TYC members who stormed the Chinese Embassy on 21st March 2008 in protest against the brutal killings of the peaceful Tibetan Protestors by the Chinese Colonial regime Under Section 147/149/186/188/332/353/448/511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to the human rights expert, Mr. Ravi Nair, The Executive Director of South Asia Human Rights Documentation Center stated, "Section 511 is quite harsh and could serve them behind bars for more than 7 years if not get them out on bail". Tibetan representatives from Majnu ka Tilla and Regional Tibetan Youth Congress from Shimla, Manali, Nanaital, and Samyeling (MT) were frequently meeting all the arrested members with food and fruits in support of their courage and bravery for successfully storming the Chinese Embassy on 21st march. |

women led by Mr Tsultrim Dorjee, Information Secretary of TYC and
former General Secretary Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee Chunang managed to scale
the Chinese Embassy boundary. After some 30 minutes of forceful
protest within and around the embassy premises, all the members were
arrested and detained at the Chanakyapuri Police Station.

The Tibet’s Independence March is about to conclude. 20th day of march started at 8.30am from Poonamalle towards Chennai which is 15km away from the last halt. Though its very hot weather over here but we have planned to give more awareness and to get more attraction of the crowed since Chennai is a Capital City of Tamil Nadu and morning from 8.00am to 10.00am there is always lots of people on the streets, so we decided to start little late as compare to the previous few days. |

Tibetan Youth Leadership Training
Five day long Tibetan Youth Leadership Training concludes with the participants taking an oath in front of the portrait of His Holiness the 14 th Dalai Lama, making a pledge of commitment to oneself and lighting a lamp of devotion in the closing ceremony. The ceremony was graced by Venerable Beri Jigme Wangyal, Tibetan Historian and an ATPD member as the Chief Guest and Acharya Lhakpa Tsering, Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies as guest of honor. |
8th Annual Tibetan Youth Leadership Training organized by TYC begins in New Delhi.The 8th Tibetan Youth Leadership Training (TYLT) began on 22nd December, 2007 at TCV Tibetan Youth Hostel, Rohini, New Delhi City. The significance of TYLT can be measured from the 2004 TYC General Body Meeting which unanimously passed a resolution for the inclusion of TYLT as an annual activity of TYC Centrex. Tibet Independence March Day 15
Since Tibet’s Independence March entered in Tamil Nadu the weather becomes hot in each and everyday which is creating trouble to the marchers such as thirsty, sweating, burning in the sun, head ache and etc. Day 15 is also no different. As usual day 13th march began at 6-00 am sharp from Ratnagiri Temple toward Walajapet as the weather looks to be a hot, humid and cloudy as marcher have to cover 20km.Exactly as prediction weather was humid and hot too but marchers determination was like a mountain.

December 19, 2007: Tenth day of the "Tibet Independence March", one of the longest walk marchers has covered till date. The march started little late as per the schedule because of the heavy rainfall. The marchers were actually all set to walk on the rain but the organizers requested them not to start until the rain stopped. |

The last two days of the March was covered extensively by regional print and electronic media groups. Many Indian people are educated along the March about the grim situation inside Tibet and many have shown solidarity and support for the March by providing accommodation, food and walking part of the March. On December 10th 1984, the United Nations General Assembely adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognized that 'all human beings are born with equal and inalienable rights and fundamental freedom'.
